Aszód is a town in Pest county, the seat of the Aszód district and the second most populous settlement after Tura. It lies on the eastern edge of the Gödöllő hills, in the valley of the Galga stream, 14 km from Gödöllő and 16 km from Hatvan.
Its main road access is the main road 3, which also passes through the centre. Near its southern border, the M3 motorway passes through the town, the nearest junction of which is at Bagni. The town is linked to Balassagyarmat by road 2108, to Verseg by road 2109 and to the border by the secondary road 21 115 to Domony.
Among the domestic railways, the MÁV Budapest-Sátoraljaújhely railway line No 80a and the Aszód-Balassagyarmat-Ipolytarnóc railway line No 78 both have a common stop here. The Aszód railway station is located on the south-eastern edge of the town, accessible by road from the 31 309 branch road that branches off south from the roundabout of the main road 3 and the road 2109.
